LOCATION

Located close to the Swiss border, the traditional French village of La Chapelle is set in the breath-taking Abundance Valley, approx 90 mins drive from Geneva Airport.  This all year round destination offers easy access to the local ski domain and the Portes Du Soleil in winter.  In the summer, the area offers outstanding walking, mountain bike routes, white water rafting and kayaking, paragliding, climbing (via Ferrata).......the list is endless!  Or, you may simply just want that chill out moment and to head for a mountain meadow with a baguette, some Abondance cheese and a bottle of Chablais!

Within the heart of the village there are various 'outdoor shops' providing everything from ski hire and ski school to summer mountain equipment.  The local amenities are excellent, whether buying your fresh croissant for breakfast on the balcony or stocking up for the energy burning week ahead.

Apres-Ski:The village has many restaurants including one of the best in the area 'Les Cornettes', where the cuisine is first class, as is the hospitality and service.  Le Fer Rouge is a great choice for lovers of contemporary style and great atmosphere, not to mention the cosy micro brewery for that cheeky après-ski tipple.  There is also a resort bus to La Châtel for those seeking an alternative to the delights of the village.

HOW TO GET HERE!

You can travel by Eurotunnel (Le Shuttle) to Thonon les Bains on the southern shores of Lake Geneva.  From here you may wish to either hire a car or get a local bus, which runs between the station and the resort.  The journey by car is approx 40mins.

You may wish to take your car and use either the Eurotunnel or catch a ferry from Dover to Calais.  From Calais the journey will take you approx 8-9 hrs. www.viamichelin.com

If flying into Geneva Airport, taxis and buses are available, as well as a wide range of car hire companies. We find the best route to take from the airport is along the southern shores of Lake Geneva to Thonon les Bains (N5).  From here we head south in to the mountains (D902) and then into the Abondance Valley (D22).  La Chapelle is then located between the resorts of Adondance and Châtel.  This journey should take approx 90 mins, with the airport being approx 80 km from the resort. www.mapquest.co.uk
